The Brazilian Art Director myth: a sun-kissed kid with a knack for creativity who chose to live off his art as an adult.
Yeah, that's the other Marcello; Serpa. As for me, my story began in the industrial heart of São Paulo, at 16 as an electrician. During my engineering studies (despite a vocational test pointing to meteorology), I realized numbers made more sense to me in Pantone colors. This realization led me to advertising, a field I knew would allow me to explore different disciplines while continuously learning from them.
In 2010 I started my career in agencies in Brazil. Seeking to expand my horizons, I earned a postgraduate degree at "La Escuelita" in Argentina while interning at TBWA. This experience led me to Ecuador, where I sharpened my craft at renowned agencies like Publicis and Y&R.
After a decade of experience as an Art Director and lessons learned from remote working, I relocated to Italy. For the past two years, I've been a Creative/Designer in a hostel chain. This role has given me a firsthand look at marketing from the client's perspective. Despite this shift, I've never lost touch with creativity, still developing campaigns and experiences for products and events, as well as working on brand expansion projects and launch new venture. I also developed a more practical side by finding my own illustration style, which made my workflow more efficient, yet creative.
